February and March 2024
Just shy of three months have zipped by since we took the plunge into this wild, life-altering escapade. Amidst the chaos, we’re still spotting the silver linings and marvelling at the changes unfolding within us. You see, we’ve both been indulging in some serious introspection—a bit of “soul searching,” if you will. You know, the kind of stuff most of us stash away on the top shelf or shove under the bed, hoping it magically sorts itself out. We’re calling it “emotional decluttering”, because, let’s face it, our emotional baggage could rival a hoarder’s attic. Its time to provide a progress report.
As we continue to remind and reaffirming our goal that is , waking up in the morning without the pressure of being tied to a specific job or place. It’s about answering the phone with excitement because it’s not a call from a stressed-out staff member or a work-related headache. It’s about having the financial freedom to savour it all. This is the foundation of our dream and the journey we have embarked on.
Things still to Do!
- Decluttering Mission: We continue to tackled the clutter head-on. Turns out, my garage was hiding secrets like a magician’s hat hides rabbits. I found treasures in the rafters that I swear I stashed there during the Jurassic era—untouched! I recon by the end of April I would have sorted the garage to a point that I can say “what’s in it is what’s needed”. And as for Dibs tackling the kitchen, well, I conveniently scheduled a “business trip” to Neptune for that. Can’t be around for all those tough decisions—like whether to keep that mug with a chip that looks like Elvis.. hopefully not that bad but you get the idea!
- House on the Market: : The “For Sale” sign is up, but apparently, the market is on island time. No firm offers yet, but hey, we’re patient. We’re holding out for that one buyer who’ll walk in and fall in love with our home of 20 years!
- Selling the Business: Officially putting the business on the market feels like sending your kid off to school for the first time. Ideally, I’d love for one of my staff to take over, but let’s be real, I’d settle for a penguin if it can balance a budget.
- Diversifying Income Streams: Ah, the world of online affiliate business—where dreams are made and Google Analytics becomes your new frenemy. We’re on track to be self-reliant in 4 to 8 months, or as I like to call it, “The Great Impatience Experiment.” Trusting the process is like trying to teach a cat to fetch—challenging, but hey, we’ve set up the litter box, now it’s time to see if it sticks.
So, imagine this: Last Saturday, I’m shooting the breeze with my buddy “H,” and we start diving into some deep talk about finding happiness. It’s like playing a never-ending game of hide and seek where happiness is the sneaky little bugger always dodging our grasp. We chasing it and then just when we think we’ve got it, poof! It slips away, leaving us scratching our heads and thinking, “What now? What’s next”
But here’s the kicker: we finally, at this age, realize and agreed that everything we need to be happy is right there in our everyday lives, like finding your glasses when they’re sitting right on your noggin. It was a lightbulb moment, you know? So, instead of chasing our tails, we have decided to kick back and appreciate the happiness that’s been hiding in plain sight all along… Family and friends!
What a revelation, right? And it’s taken us how long? All this time we thought it was “Stuff”… Dumb Asses !!!
So here Dibs and I are, still embracing our inner “Irresponsible Adults,” stumbling through our journey to renewed life mission with a mix of determination and sheer dumb luck taking it day by day. Stay tuned for more progress in our irresponsible adulting series, who knows what awaits us around the next corner, we still have a lot to share.. we haven’t even got started on the dogs………
