Progress Report 1 – Now its Time to Get Real!!

Who would’ve guessed that chasing your true potential would turn into such a mission? We’ve had to break things down, set goals, and establish time frames to keep our eyes on the prize. With a lengthy to-do list and countless tasks ahead, I’ve crafted the following document to serve as our trusty itinerary, our roadmap to reaching our destination.

More Work Then We Thought!

Now, each of these items on our list of “Things To Do”, if dissected further, could probably fill a book. I’ve been blogging about some of these topics as Dibs and I work through this process. We’ve found some gem ideas that we’re excited to share. But let’s keep it real -I’m just tackling what’s been thrown our way: the questions we’re asking ourselves and the actions we’re taking to reach our ultimate goal. Quick disclaimer, though: we’re not pros, counselors or therapists. Please take the advice and ideas from wens it comes…use it or don’t!!!

The Real Goal.

The real goal here? Waking up in the morning without the pressure of being tied to a specific place. It’s about answering the phone with excitement because it’s not a call from a stressed-out staff member or a work-related headache. It’s about having the financial freedom to savor it all. Now, that’s the dream we’re chasing.

Things to Do!

  1. House on the Market: With the “For Sale” sign up, we’ve embarked on the roller coaster ride of selling our home. While we’ve had some interest, including one verbal offer that seemed promising but never materialized into a written one, and a successful show house day according to our agent Ken, we’re still waiting for that golden offer to seal the deal.
  2. Selling the Business: This one’s a tough nut to crack. I’ve consulted with a business broker and got the accountant to whip up the annual financial statements. By the end of February, we hope to have these ready for assessment, marking the next step in offloading the business.
  3. De-cluttering Mission: We’ve tackled the clutter head-on, starting with the garage, clothing, spare bedroom cupboards, and even dared to tiptoe into the kitchen (although Dibs swiftly reminded me of her domain there). Progress report? Well, we’ve managed to part ways with about two loads of stuff from the garage, but you wouldn’t quite notice the difference yet. The clothing and spare room cupboards, however, are a different story – six bin bags of clothing are now in the hands of those less fortunate, and the kitchen has bid farewell to two boxes of glasses and vases, plus a few other odds and ends. Still, there’s plenty more clutter-busting to be done.
  4. Saying Goodbye to the Boat: Admittedly not my proudest moment, but the boat found a new owner faster than expected. Dibs sees it as a sign of my commitment to our transformational journey.
  5. Diversifying Income Streams: We’ve taken the plunge into the world of online affiliate business – an adventure we’re excited about but also recognize as a challenge. The goal? To become self-reliant within 4 to 8 months, no longer tethered to the business we’re bidding farewell to. From clueless to live in under 30 days, we’ve set up shop, built a website, and are now navigating the learning curve as we go. Watch this space – it’s bound to be a journey full of twists and turns!

1 Down 11 To Go!

Here’s where we stand after our inaugural month, with just 11 more to go. We’re positively beaming with pride at the progress we’ve made and the transformations we’re witnessing in each other. It’s the little things, you know? The subtle shifts in attitude, like seeing the glass as half full rather than half empty. We’re dusting off our dreams and aspirations, reigniting conversations we’d long put on the back burner. It feels like we’ve found our purpose again, and while we’re staying grounded, we’re also eagerly anticipating the prospect of embracing our inner “Irresponsible Adults.” Stay tuned for more updates next month
