Exploring the Journey to Unleash Your True Potential Beyond Daily Stress

During the chilly month of August of 2023, my wife Deirdre (AKA Dibs) and I embarked on a three-week road trip. Specifically, we traveled through the Namaqualand and West Coast of South Africa. Essentially, we were living out of our 4×4. Consequently, the tent became our temporary five-star hotel (or maybe more like a three-star, depending on how many bugs joined us for dinner).

During our road trip, between camping escapades and charming BnB stays, we stumbled upon a magical formula. Namely, very little cellphone reception plus each other equals maximum enjoyment. It was like a tech detox; however, it came with more fine red wine and fewer withdrawal symptoms.

As we meandered through picturesque landscapes, we realized we wanted more of the good stuff. Specifically, more breathtaking views, more spontaneous adventures, and a lot less stress.

Eventually, the “aha” moment hit us harder than a mosquito at a summer braai (barbecue, for the non-Springbok supporters). Subsequently, we decided to prioritize this newfound formula in our future travels.

Ultimately, our road trip taught us the value of disconnecting from technology and reconnecting with each other.
